Alright, so we got some controversy over at this AI company. Some top people over at OpenAI, they had some disagreements about the whole AI innovation. And because of those differences, there’s been a bit of a shakeup. Sam Altman, he may have got the boot. Like, whoa. But it exposed a lot about these dudes’ differing views about how AI could mess everything up.
See, Altman was all about the rapid AI innovation, he was the go-getter for getting the funding, the rapid development, the whole nine yards. Including trying to get this billion bucks in funding for some new device from this big Japanese company. He was looking to make OpenAI the top dog in the AI game, but some people were like, whoa, chill out dude, we gotta be careful with this stuff.
Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s cofounder and chief scientist, was more about making sure all this innovation won’t turn on us. That’s a fair concern. And some others on the board of OpenAI felt the same way. And it seems like these fears over Altman’s approach might’ve led to him getting kicked out.
And you know what? This isn’t the first time someone leaving OpenAI ’cause of some disagreements about this kind of thing. In 2021, a whole bunch of people left to form their own rival company that’s all about building safer AI. So you know the feelings on this are strong.
The fallout from Altman’s departure has gotten pretty intense, let me tell you, people have been leaving left and right. Looks like those who are still around are not too happy about it and they want Altman back. This is all blowing up, you can’t make it up.
