This year was absolutely crazy for AI – it went from being something only a few people knew about to being everywhere. But 2024, man, that’s when things are really gonna get real. Companies like OpenAI are gonna start selling their AI creations to the public. They’re gonna go full steam ahead, just pushing their “app store for AI” like nobody’s business. And they’re not the only ones – other big companies are gonna jump on that bandwagon too.
And then there’s the stuff like generated video and generative music. That’s gonna go from being experimental to being an actual thing. Maybe not a huge thing, but we’ll see some cool uses for it. Plus, some of the big downsides to using these giant language models are gonna become more clear. Things like the fact that they can’t multiply large numbers – that’s gonna become obvious. And it’s gonna be way too expensive to keep using these huge models, so companies are gonna find better ways of doing things.
And get this, Apple is gonna jump in on the AI game too. They’ve been sitting back and watching what everyone else is doing, and now they’re gonna come out with their own version of AI. It’s gonna use all the data they’ve been collecting from people and it’s gonna be pretty cool.
But don’t get too excited just yet. There’s also gonna be a lot of legal drama. Lawsuits are gonna be flying around left and right. Companies are gonna be accused of all kinds of stuff, and most of them won’t ever see a courtroom. It’s gonna be a mess.
And as for those big new laws that are supposed to regulate AI, well, don’t hold your breath. It’s gonna be a while before we see any major changes because of those. So 2024 is gonna be a wild, wild year for AI, that’s for sure. But maybe not in the way we were all hoping for.
