So, this chief digital innovation officer over at BT is saying we need to stop griping about how AI is going to take all of our jobs. She compared humans to horses when cars came along, saying the horses didn’t complain – they just adapted. She thinks the media is making people paranoid and causing emotional issues. She wants to reassure everyone that human intelligence and artificial intelligence can work together.
But BT is in the midst of embracing AI tech, and it could mean some major changes for their workforce. The CEO has hinted at significant staff reductions through automation. So, this AI stuff is no joke. Even old-timer analysts are getting in on the debate, taking sides on whether this is the end of human employment as we know it.
But, as with any major technological shift in the past, new jobs will emerge. Even though the idea of AI taking over might sound dystopian, we’ve seen this kind of panic before with the rise of computing. So don’t panic just yet. There’s always a way forward.
