Hey, check it out, my friends! We got something cool going on at the University of Florida, it’s the second annual AI Days, happening from October 16th to 20th. And guess what? It’s not just for nerds and geeks, everyone is invited! Students, faculty, staff, come one, come all!
Now, AI Days is part of the university’s bigger plan to get the whole campus excited about artificial intelligence and its crazy potential. And let me tell ya, they have a whole bunch of awesome stuff lined up for you. We’re talking poster board sessions, panel discussions, and even a hackathon! How rad is that?
My man David Reed, who’s the associate provost for strategic initiatives and the director of the (AI)^2 Center, he says that since AI is being used in all sorts of fields, it’s super important for all students to get in on the action. And he’s right, my friends! AI is the future, and you don’t wanna be left behind!
Alright, now let me give you the lowdown on the highlights of AI Day events:
First up, we got the Gator Tank, hosted by the Warrington College of Business. This thing is like Shark Tank on steroids! The goal here is to help students kickstart and grow their very own AI-powered businesses. You got an awesome AI idea? Well, you can pitch it, get advice from some savvy judges and mentors, and maybe even win some sweet prize money! We’re talkin’ $10,000 for first place, $6,000 for second place, and $4,000 for third place. Plus, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center will be there to guide you along the way. It’s all happening on October 16th, and you don’t wanna miss it!
Next, we got the Gator Hack Competition, presented by Verizon. This thing is a 48-hour challenge, my friends! Starting on October 13th at the Marston Science Library, teams of students will be given a problem and a data set by Verizon. And their mission? To design and develop an AI-powered solution to that problem. And let me tell ya, it’s gonna be intense, it’s gonna be fun, and it’s gonna be an amazing opportunity for you to show off your skills and win some serious cash! We’re talkin’ a $20,000 prize pool here, folks!
Alright, now here’s something super cool for all you creative folks out there. We’re talkin’ about a competition that’s all about generative artwork. Whether you’re an artist, designer, musician, writer, performer, or architect, this one’s for you! You get to showcase your creative talents, and guess what? The top 20 submissions will be featured in a digital exhibition! So, all you creative individuals, let’s see how you can leverage AI to take your art to the next level! It’s all happening on October 16th, and it’s gonna be mind-blowing!
Now, we can’t forget about the importance of AI in various fields. That’s why we got faculty from all disciplines leading discussions in the Reitz Union Ballroom. We’re talking K-12 education, law and policy, technology, business, you name it! Over 60 panelists will be sharing their knowledge and insights. It’s gonna be educational, it’s gonna be eye-opening, and it’s gonna expand your horizons!
Oh, and check this out! There’s gonna be a poster presentation showcasing all the incredible research happening across campus that’s using AI. If you’re an undergraduate, graduate student, postdoc, staff, or faculty, you can present a poster and show the world what you’ve been working on. It’s gonna be a celebration of knowledge, my friends!
But wait, there’s more! On October 19th, the Career Connections Center is gonna hook you up with a dope workforce development day. They’ll equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in an AI-enabled workforce. They got panels on using AI to land that dream job, interview tips, resume improvement, and you can even get a free headshot! It’s all happening in the Reitz Union Ballroom, my friends, so make sure you show up and get ready to level up your career game!
