You got all these different companies jumping into AI, right? And they gotta build up an AI workforce to make it happen. And part of that is bringing in a chief artificial intelligence officer (CAIO), but not everyone’s got one yet.
So what do you need if you want to step into this role? According to a guy over at ConSol Partners in Los Angeles, you can’t just be all technology, man. You gotta be able to bring AI to the table but also be aware of the risks it brings. And not just that, you gotta be able to work with different teams, help set up AI strategies, and design and target business use cases. So you gotta be pretty savvy in a bunch of different areas.
If you’re good to go on all of that, he says the future’s looking pretty bright for folks reaching for this leadership role. Yeah, it’s kind of an up-and-coming lane to move into.
So what exactly does a CAIO do? Well, they’re in charge of setting an entire company’s AI strategy, from coming up with the plan to making it all happen, technology-wise. And yeah, this kind of job is probably something you’d expect to see at a big tech company, but it’s catching on across a bunch of different fields.
Let’s look at a couple of real-life examples. There’s this guy who works at GE HealthCare, and his job is all about making AI work better in the field of healthcare, from helping doctors with diagnosis to making sure everything can comply with regulations. And there’s another CAIO over at The Cult Branding Co. who gets how to use AI to drive growth while keeping it ethical and following rules and whatnot.
And where does a chief AI officer fit in at the old company? It’s part of the big-deal executive team. They might report right to the CEO or another top honcho. And it can have a big impact on where the company’s headed.
